SUMMARY: The Payroll Clerk is responsible for supporting the payroll function by managing, maintaining, and auditing employee time and attendance records within the Kronos/UKG timekeeping system. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with company policies, and provides frontline support to employees and managers regarding timekeeping and payroll inquiries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinate with all Rockwall County departments, Human Resources, and the Payroll Manager to implement the Kronos/UKG timekeeping system.
• Maintain and manage daily Kronos timekeeping records, ensuring accurate punches, schedules, job transfers, and pay codes.
• Audit timecards for missing punches, incorrect job transfers, overtime compliance, and policy violations.
• Support managers and employees with Kronos system questions, including navigation, corrections, and approvals.
• Enter, verify, and update employee information related to pay rates, schedules, and timekeeping rules.
• Review and validate payroll reports, including wage summaries, accrual balances, and exception reports.
• Collaborate with HR and department leaders to resolve attendance discrepancies and ensure policy alignment.
• Assist with payroll-related documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping for audits and compliance.
• Provide training and guidance on Kronos functionality to new hires and management as needed.
• Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance accuracy and efficiency within the timekeeping workflow.

SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities nor budget responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with Kronos Workforce Ready, UKG, or similar timekeeping systems required.
• Prior payroll experience preferred.
• Prior experience working in county or city government preferred, or experience in working with law enforcement scheduling.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work with deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position is located in an office environment and occasionally within the law enforcement center with little or no exposure to environmental conditions. Health and safety hazards are minimal. No protective equipment is required. Fine dexterity, sitting, hearing, talking and vision are constantly required. Frequent reaching and handling are required. Occasional standing and walking are required.
